How do you replace the plumbing from a regular sink to a pedestal sink?

Question:i want to keep the plumbing from the vanity sink but i dont want them to show when i put in the pedestal sink. so how do i hide the plumbing

Answers:
Just did this myself and was in the same situation you are. My plumbing was coming in out of the wall, not the floor. I don't know how yours is. I thought I didn't want it to show, but it ended up being so much trouble to move it, that I simply put new shiny cut-off valves on it, and ran good-looking silver supply lines to the sink. It shows, but I think it actually adds to the sink rather than takes away.

I'm glad I left mine showing.

Impossible, You need to completely reconfigure your "P" trap, (its the bend in the pipes going into the wall). On a vanity sink you have room to use pipes in any way since they are hidden in the cabinet. Whereas on a pedistal sink, the pipes need to be much shorter to fit behind the pedistal.

Pending on how old your plumbing/house is galvanized steel pipes may be behind the wall and could potentially strip during the change. best advice is to have a bonded and insured plumber come and change out the pipes.
It would require moving the piping to the center of the pedestal. If you can access the pipes from a basement, it may not be too bad but is still a time consuming process. Mine was at the back of the bathroom so I built a cabinet (shallow one) , moved the plumbing inside the cabinet, and set the sink in front of it.
you can actually buy pedestal sinks that hide the plumbing. Some have a cut out on the actual base.
