I am trying to fit new sink taps. The new taps won't fit on the 15mm copper pipe. Any ideas?

Question:The external diameter is the same on the old taps as the new tap however the internal diameter of the new taps seems to be slightly smaller. Should I try and heat the pipe. Is it possible that the tolerance of the new taps is out.

Answers:
Are you trying to connect the 15mm copper pipe directly to the thread of the tap--?? you need a 15mm tap connector for the job-- one end fits onto the copper pipe while the other end screws onto the tap thread.

Ret plumber.

Take one or both taps to a plumbers merchant and ask for connectors.
Sounds as though you purchased the wrong size. If you can take one of the old ones with you, the store should be able to help you. Good luck!
If I'm reading you right, you can't fit the 15mm pipe "into" the tap? If that is the case, then is it possible you have used a junior hacksaw on the pipe, and not a pipe-cutter?

The tolerances are usually pretty tight, and a sawn pipe ends up bigger than 15mm O/D (try cutting a pipe and fitting a compression olive over it...)

Maybe a bit of filing down will do the trick?

Of course, if I have misunderstood, then I apologise :-)
sounds like you have imperial pipework,
depending on your sink tap connections, you can get some flexi tap connectors, get the compression kind and not the push fit, if you have threaded connections, you can use these, you have pipes coming straight out your new taps, get the same flexis and a couple of 15mmx1/2" male copper to irons, screw the copper to irons onto the ends of the flexis and that way you can connect onto your taps then pipework.
john E is right, you need a tap connector to connect a tap of anykind, sink taps are 1/2" and bath taps are 3/4", unless they have copper tails fitted, which could be anything from 8mm to 22mm. But keeping it simple you just need a flexi 1/2" to 15mm tap connector from any plumbers, the 1/2" washer end to the thread on the tap, and the compression end onto your copper inlet pipes, simple. Not to sound awful, but you are the sort of person who should get a plumber, instead of leaving a bowl with a rag in under your plumbing jobs. If all fails ineed somewhere to dump my fish when we go on holiday.
go buy 15mm to 1/2" tap connectors from plumbers merchants..
