How do I wash clothes with self-driven metal eyelets?

Question:I am planning on putting metal eyelets on some of my clothes (all are made of cotton) with an eyelet setting machine. Can I wash them in the machine, or do I handwash them?

Also, can these eyelets rust? If so, should I be setting them into my clothes at all?

Answers:
you can wash them without worry. they'll rust if they're cheap metal, so get copper or s. steel. wash the clothes once before adding the eyelets so they can shrink once to avoid wrinkles around the eyelets.

Wash them in the machine on a gentle cycle. They won't rust as long as they are fully dried and not left to sit.
I cannot see the difference between them and zippers. and people wash clothes with zippers all the time.
Putting it in the washing machine shouldn't hurt it.
Try turning the clothing inside out before washing. I'm not sure if the eyelets will rust. Unless you now for sure that they won't rust, don't bother using them.
