Can you paint masonry paint over hammerite?

Question:any advice would be welcome thanks all

Answers:
Wouldn't think so as masonry paint is waterbased and won't key into hammerite.

Don't think so, hammerite is usually used on metal. Masonry paint on masonry. If its metal you are painting slap on another coat of hammerite.
You will get flakes, it will rub off easily. you could sand it (to get the gloss of the hammerite away) and you could try using an oil based undercoat. this may work, but probably wont last long. Failing that you could coat with shellac based zinzer, it will stick to practically anything but will cost a lot. it will also kill your brush if you do not clean it with methylated spirits. hope this helps
