I want to set 6x6 poles on a 5" slab, how deep should the pot holes be? and what type of brackets sholud i use?

Question:this is being being done in ca. thanks frank.ps the pole are 12' tall

Answers:
If the poles are going to be on top of the slab then buy some brackets at home depot they sell 2 different ones. the first will have the pole on the slab the other will have it raised a little so if you are cleaning the slab off the water will run under the pole and not rot it. If you are drilling the slab and setting the poles in it I wuld go a couple of feet so that they won't tip over

i am on the east coast where your hole needs to be min. 30" deep and 18" in diameter set on 8" of concrete.
