Who has built an all-steel home in Australia? What are your experiences?

Question:We're thinking of building a steel home on a block in Tasmania and would like some feedback from anyone else who has built and lived in a steel home. We would be looking to maximise natural light and minimise heat loss, whilst living in a reletively spacious and comfortable home. We are a working couple with a view to starting a family in the next 5 years and would hope that this home can see us through for a long time. Any manufacturers recommended? Any tips or do's and dont's? If you could build again what would you change or definitely keep the same?
If you've got any comments we'd really appreiciate your advice, Thanks!

Hi there,
Friends of mine built an all steel home in Cowra New South Wales. Approx 4 hour drive west of Sydney.

They only had one complaint about it and that was you could hear the steel expanding and contracting with the change of weather. Other wise they were very happy with there home.

It was very cheap to build. It took know time to construct. It was very easy for them to had on an extension. No Termites to worry about. They used colour bond roofing. They were so pleased with there home when the manufacturer asked them would they mind showing there house to other people who where thinking of using steel they said yes.

Cowra also gets freezing cold in winter. They had know problem keeping the large open family/kitchen area warm using a Convection style slow combustion wood heater.

They also had four children so they had five bedrooms, two bathrooms and an en-suite. I personally loved the look and style of there home and how it felt inside when I was staying with them.
