What is the I.D. of this tubing?
Question:I want to order some tubing (5/8" OD X .065" WALL 1026 DOM STEEL TUBE) and am assuming that with .065" walls that would make the ID of the tubing .495 and I was quite sure if there was some weird way of measuring the ID of tubing that I didn't know about.
Answers:
Unlike pipe, which has a "nominal" size, METAL tubing size is usually described using the O.D. and wall thickness.
Any metal supply company selling tubing should be able to supply what you want with EXACTLY the information you have provided.
.065 wall is a common wall thickness used in tubing
1026 is the grade of the steel
DOM stands for Drawn Over Mandrel
Just look up Tubing under Steel in the local phone directory, or use the on-line "Thomas Register" to locate a local supplier of Steel tubing.

1/2 inch I.D.A little shy but if it is electrical metallic tubing(EMT) then 1/2in.
.065x2=.13
5/8=.625
.625-.13=.495
if it is not electrical tubing then it may be sized by the O.D. then the inside is .495 like you have.
standard ordering of tubing is based on id disregarding the thickness. standard size of tubing is 3/8, 1/2, 3/4 etc
