What should I do now with the walls?
Question:I removed wall paper yesterday to paint. Then I discovered that the parts of the walls where I removed the wall paper were smooth but the parts of the walls where there was not wall paper were texured.
So is it cheaper and easier to make all the walls smooth, then paint?
Or should I texure them, then paint?
Answers:
It won't take much to sand the texture off.it's fast and easy with a handsander! If you try to texture the paint on the flat wll you might not get the same texture and it won't look right .
Before texturing or painting, I would get them smooth by sanding the textured surface until all is the same, then you can do anything that meets your fancy.
Totally a matter of preference.
Mix some texture stuff in with your paint and that will be a easy fix. If the old textured walls are really noticeable, just add more texture to the paint to hide it, or get some coarse sandpaper and remove the high spots.
Personally, I would save a lot of time and money by just buying dry wall, cover up whole mess and paint the dry wall.
