Shower pump has minor drips/leak underneath? help?
Question:I have a mira shower pump next to my imers tank in the cupboard. It leaks / drips from the underneath when the shower is activated. I'm thinking a seal has gone. Is this a case of buy a replacement, power off, water off and replace? help, dont want to frank spencer it!
Answers:
Sure, you could simply replace. On the basis that you will be getting rid of the old at worst.
If you have mechanical skill, why not strip the pump and replace the seal. This type is often a 'carbon/ceramic' seal, they are easy to replace. Tip...to 'bed the seal' accuratly, lubricate with washing up liquid, tighten the impellor onto the shaft, allow the impellor to push the seal fullly home. My E-mail is on my profile if you need.
Then Matag Repairman it. Turn off the power to it, in case there is a short in the wiring, and get the make and model and maybe a serial number off the pump and do a google search for the pump manufacturer. Then see if there is a rebuild kit available. Hope this helps, Roy
sounds like the seal in the pump gave up get the model number and or part number if you have the book on it and get the same seal and replace it if you can do it yourself good luck
You did'nt say where the water was coming from. If it is coming fron the connection exit to shower, then it is the rubber seal, and easily replaced, as you say it only leaks when activated.
