Evaluation of domestic AirConditioner's in India?

Question:How to technically evaluate a domestic AirConditioner(AC) towards a purchase decision.Assuming te requirements of 1 to 2 ton AC ; what options do manufacturers/vendors in the Indian market provide in terms of technology, price trade-offs and hence total cost of ownership (energy efficiency).AC Tech professionals only please.

Answers:
I would imagine that you have many of the same units that are sold world wide. What you should look for is a high S.E.E.R value in an AC unit. SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficency Rating. The higher the number the more cost effective the unit is to use. As far as a domestically produced unit in India is concerned I do not have any answer for you. I do not know if the rules and regulations in India govern any ratings for AC units. You can find lots of information on the internet about different units. I am sure that Hiar is sold in India. They are a very big and reputable Chinese manufacturer of AC units. Look at Trane, Carrier, Rheem, and Amana. They all have websites.
