How many BTU's do you I want for a 12'x24' bedroom?

Question:

Answers:
somewhere around 3 to 5 thousand BTU

My bedroom is 12x9. I use a 8,000BTU and works fine.
9000
Some factors to consider first.
1. Amount of insulation
2. ceiling height
3 climate/average temperatures

for that size room good insulation and 8' ceiling you can get away with a 5k btu however I would recommend a 9k btu unit.

Also I recommend you getting one that is energy efficient.
If you live where it is hot (100-F) and don't want to leave it on
for a long time to get cool I'd go for a ton (12,000 BTU).
but if it is only 85 or so and it's on all the time 6,000 BTU will do.
