PVC or Poly for sprinkler system?

Question:I am planning for an in-ground sprinkler system in Northern Indiana. Should I use PVC or Poly pipe?

Answers:
You can use PVC if you keep it over a foot below the surface and drain the system before the winter sets in.

I would use PVC pipe.
I used black poly for my inground system and found it to be much easier to install than pvc. The compression fittings were easy to install with only a heat gun. I also live in an area where the soil has a tendency to shift, so the black poly is more flexible and not as likely to crack with ground movement.

I encountered two issues.the black poly is sold on a roll, so I had to lay it out on the ground overnight to take the bend out of the pipe. Second, my city has very low water pressure, so using the compression fittings with the black poly tubing reduced the flowrated somewhat, but I over came this by just using fewer sprinklers in a single zone.
