Fixing a gap in trim moulding?
Question:in my kitchen the trim covering the cabinet and ceiling joint area has a gap ranging from 1/8th inch to actualy flush with surface, is there a way to fill that? looking for pros and cons of using caulk, vs drywall compound vs wood filler, we are looking to paint afterwards...
Answers:
The easiest to use is a tube type Latex caulk Adhesive to fill that gap.
Take a caulking gun and run a bead of this latex right into that gap. Then take a wet rag or wet your index finger and smooth that adhesive.

drywall compound will crack- use a wood filler, sand and then paint
just use some clear silicone caulking it can be painted and it blends in well with any type of finished surface.
The most lasting and easiest to use is a tube type Polyurethan Adhesive to fill that gap.
Take a caulk gun and run a bead of this material right into that gap. Then take a wet, yes WET, rag and smooth that adhesive to where it is even best as you can.
Then the next day take a knife and trim that flush. That poly will hold in there and will not crack or ever come loose and it will stain or paint right over it.
You have two answers that were close. Do the polyurethane glue first and shove is in the gap so it touches the ceiling and wood solid. Use your finger and clean off the excess as tightly as you can. Then the next day use latex caulk and go over it again to make a smoother paint-able finish. Allow a small cove to amount to remain for elasticity and coverage of urethane glue under it. This process will hold tightly the crown to ceiling and a clean paint-able surface.
Paintable caulk is the easy fix. No sanding and you can have a smooth surface.
