A sharp knife.
It sounds like someone's sent you out for a long-stand.
Don't you just use a knife?
It's called a Stanley Knife
Yes, your pen knife.
My partner uses his stanley knife to sharpen his.
just use a knife...
Use a very sharrp blade
I always used a modelling knife or carpet knife - you get a much better point
ebay
Traitionally, my friend, a joiner's pencil doesn't NEED a sharpener, - its "OVAL", or "OVOID" shape, means, that the joiner can, actually, sharpen it, with one of the tools, on his belt, - usually, a CHISEL or GOUGE, - when required.
Just don't get sent to the stores to ask for a long weight
I got a small pencil sharpener at a home center. It's made for flat carpenters pencil, but the opening would fit an oval pencil. I believe it cost around $2. You may have to ask for one, but I found mine near the cash register.
Its called a stanley knife
edit: just seen that there is anther answer th same as mine !
Why would anyone ever bother to buy a sharpener for a pencil, round, oval or any shape.
While all the answers that state use a "knife" are certainly valid. Such a tool does exist and Mikie B pointed it out.
I'll assume as a "Joiner" you're in the UK. I have no idea what types of hardware/tool/home stores exist where you live, but here in the states both Lowes and Home Depot sell a Carpenters Pencil,,,sharpener. It's likley you'll find what you're looking for online. They are inexpesive enough to allow the purchase of more than one.
The "knife" process however would be the most rapid way, with a tool you should be carrying anyway.

Yes, you can find them at Home Depot,Lowes,Menards,Carter Lumber,Ace Hardware,or any hardware store. It will cost $1 to $2
Are you serious? Use a pin knife.
They don't sell such sharpeners. The design of pencil sharpeners relies upon a on smooth circular rotation of either a blade or the pencil. An ovid shape would break the mechanis.
Use a sharp knife - these pencils are designed to be knife sharpened.

i've always found that a stanley knife works just fine for this type of pencil just make sure you cut away from yourself not towards yourself
use your chisel.this is a wind up right?
blimey,they do exist!
would you believe it!!
from the oval pencil sharpener shop of course
D & M tools sell them
they do exist, i was given two this week from a shop called ALLFIX, they not so much sharpen the pencil more chew it to a point, save your money and use the good old chisel
best way is just use a sharp stanley knife , just make sure you sharpen away from your body , you dont want an accident
Hi,
That's the sort of silly thing they would send me off to get when I was an apprentice, I would think you are old enough to know better ?
Skew.
Your not a very good joiner mate, if you cant work out the best way to sharpen your pencil. Do what nearly everyone else does and use your stanley knife if you know what one of those are.
