Where can i find information on building a back yard deck ?
Question:I want to build a back yard deck that would be on an easy to moderate scale .
Answers:
I would go to Home Depot and Lowe's, if they have these do it yourself stores in the area where you live. Not only can you get plans, they will help you figure out the most economic way to buy boards of wood, for instance, if you are making a 10 foot wide deck, it is often cheaper to buy a twenty foot board, and cut it . Also, if you let them know it will be your first deck, they will help you equip yourself with the correct screws, tools and equipment. And, if you run into a problem while you are working on your deck, they usually have time to help you solve your problem when you come and talk to them. I did my first deck this way, and it was a rewarding experience in all ways. Good luck-
LOWES.com or Home Depot website. Check with DIY.com will help too.
Good Luck
Good question.
I've had the same interest as well..and wanted to DIY.
Mind you I've not built one..but the places that were very useful were Lowes and HomeDepot..they have books, experts, and the tools necessary ... best place to go..as you need to consider more things than how to..but more of the how much do I want to spend, how long do I want it to last, how creative do I want to make it.
The last key thing that I've delayed on..was practice..as I didn't want to buy everything and fail...since I'd never built one before..I don't want it to look good and become a safety hazard.
Good luck, hope that helps.
