Lawnmower maintenance?
Question:how do i change the oil in my lawnmower?
Answers:
Most mowers I've worked on have a drain plug underneath the motor in the blade compartment. (Disconnect the spark plug wire.) Tilt the mower slightly and scrape away the old grass. There will be some bolts that hold the motor to the deck, but in between there will either be a recessed allen head or exposed square bolt that you remove to drain the oil.
Lacking an owners manual, I would say SAE 30 weight oil and refill it to the appropriate spot on the dipstick, or level with the slot in the oil fill of non-dipstick type mowers.
Attach the plug wire and it's ready to go.
get the owners manual and it should tell you.
you will see a little plug to put oil into the motor. there may be a plug that looks like a little nut on the bottom. however, not many lawnmowers have drain plugs that are easy to access. The best way to do it is to just keep the level in the motor to the full level. they do not really run long enough to need an oil change. They usually burn enough oil to have fairly new oil in the crankcase with the amount of uses. good luck
In all honesty your best route would be to take it into a small equipment maintenance place.
They would change your oil check your plug, clean your air filter and also sharpen your blade.
Normally when its time to change oil in the mower the other things would need attending to.
If an oil change is all you want to do then what the other people mentioned is correct.
It really isn't that hard to do, the one thing you might get confused about is the direction you turn the wrench to losen oil drain plug. Other than that it really isn't that difficult.
Good Luck.
