Cold water tap Hot water tap which side?

Question:I am fitting out my house and the problem is what tap goes where is it cold on the left or on the right hand side?

Answers:
The logic for keeping the standard cold/right, hot/left placement, aside from standardization to avoid surprises, is that most people are right-handed and they reach for the righthand side first. By having the cold there, it helps avoid accidental scaldings. Nowadays people usually just turn down the temperature of the water heater, so scalding is less of an issue. Thus you could accommodate lefthanders if you want. The rule about bathtubs with hot water farthest away should probably still hold, though, since children's skin burns more easily than adults'.

hot left
cold right
cold - right
hot - left
Hot on the left, Cold on the right
in my house the cold is on the right and hot on the left
Cold right/Hot left
hot -left ,cold -right.
the most common is hot left but it can be either way.
if you or other persons want it the other way round there's no problems that will arise from doing so.
the hot water tap is usually on the left of the sink and the cold water tap is normally on the right hand side of the sink but when you are talking about a tub the hot water is usually the one that you have to reach the farthest for so that little kids don't turn the wrong one and burn themselves.
There is a conflict of answers here but the protocol is hot left, cold right. This gives you better control as cold is the most used tap.
cold on right side
Hot left
Cold right
Hot left cold right.
Hot is usually on the left. This is because on a sink mixer tap the tube for the hot is inside the main tap spout. (They are not really mixer taps) so that you don't get a tap spout too hot too touch. It will work the other way round with no problem but now you can choose.
well cant you tell that i live in a Leeds city council house downstairs the hots on the right cold left upstairs sink hot left cold right in the bath the hots on the left cold right the hot tap is right near the edge so yes my son can reach it
rose
hot=left
hot left and cold on the right, but dont get them mixed up, someone done that in a house that i bought, and when you flush the toilet, boiling water comes out. lol (fixed now though)

but a worse thing happend to me. it was so funny.

someone got the gas and water pipes mixed up, so when you turn the cooker on water came out, turn the taps on and gas comes out. lol
hot is always on the left ------
It doesn't matter which tap goes where, because you could just swap over the handles or plastic inserts. That said, it's usually hot on the left, cold on the right.
On a sink the cold is on the right, but the hot is always furthest away from you in a bath so kids don't lean over and put the hot tap on.
Hot to the left and cold to the right. If your putting any main shutoff valves on any of the main lines leading to them, they make them with red handles for hot to take the guess work out of figuring whats what. Or put a little red paint on them.
hot =left cold =right. standard rule in plumbing to prevent blind or partially sighted people from scolding themselves
Hot on the left, cold on thr right... unless of course the majority of people in the house are left handed. Then it would be fair to turn them round.
common practice will put the hot to the left and cold to the right, but for just taps either way is fine,it become important on showers
On mine left hot right cold i think that is standard
Three things you have to know to be a plumber:
Cold on the right.
Hot on the left.
Payday is Friday.
I was always taught with the bath it was the hot tap was always nearest the wall and the rest of the house was hot right, cold left.
cold right
hot left
Hot taps are ALWAYS on the LEFT. It is not generally known that if they are reversed in ,say a hotel or cruise ship, and you get scalded, you can take legal action for being burnt.
