How do I put a cloth lining into a purse I knitted?
Question:How do I put a cloth lining into a purse I knitted? Acutally I'm making a caring case for my laptop. I was just wandering how to go about doing that.
Answers:
im sure you are wondering as wandering means to meander about, simply lay the purse out, on some newspaper and trace around it, then add an inch for seam allowance, lay that on the fabric lining and you simply sew around the edges then slip it into the knitted purse, and fold down the top edges a bit and whip stitch it to the knitting by hand. if you want it more stable and no seams visable on inside or outside, then you want to make the purse lining twice, slip one inside the other, and fold edges over and stitch inside the knitting. this makes it a little more stiff and keeps you from having raw edges anywhere, if the knitting is an open weave at all. if you want it really stiff, then use the stiffest grade of sew in pellon, one or more layers, between the lining and the knitting or between the two lining layers if you have open knitting and are doing the double lining. good luck.
