How to make canvas and clear vinyl shades?

Question:I want to make roll up/ down clear vinyl shades to put dpwn in the rain so I may use my screened in back porch when it rains, and to keep the furniture from getting wet. I have most of the supplies to start.

Answers:
First of all make sure you get weatherproof material - vinyl is better than canvas for protection of rain, canvas I'd suggest for sun. Make sure you get the correct gauge needles and a suitable thread as these are tough materials to work with.

I have attached the links of two patterns that I have used... one is for rolling shades the other for roman shades. Both can be adapted to canvas or vinyl. Just make sure you pay attention to the materials specifics and work with the right materials.
