I have an older house but a new dryer... 2 prong outlet but 4 prong dryer...?
Question:Qualified Electricians only please answer. how can i handle this problem
Answers:
Need a 220 line to replace the 110 line that is there; you need an electrician unless you are qualified to run a 220 line from the breaker box; I'm betting not
2 prong is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT VOLTAGE. SWAPPING PIGTAILS ON THE DRYER WON'T HELP.
Just go to home depot or lowes and buy a plug that u need
Dryers plugs vary
you dont need a qualified electrician. Goto an hardware store. They have these plugs that plug into a 2 prong outlet that have 3 and four prong female inlets on the other end.
Im not electrician but I did just have this done. You will have to have an experienced person do this. Its simple but you need to know what you are doing. They merely changed the plug to a 220 plug. I hope the wiring is there. Mine was so good luck.
you need a new line put in. just putting in a receptacle will cause the line to melt.(fire). Get a electrician or a mechanically inclined friend. This is not for the hobbyist.
you need a whole new line put in, a 2 outlet is 110 volts and a 3-4 prong requires a 220 volt line. So I suggest hiring someone to do it for you!
Your house is on 110 and you need 220. You will need and electrican to change the wiring over for the dryer.
Yeh If you go to lowes you can by the right plug. You dont need an electrician to change the cords out. I' ve just recently did it and it was simple and i'm not even close to an electrician.
yes you do need to have a 220 line installed in your home by a gual electrictrain due to the plug has to be change and new breakers have to added to the service panel .you can not change the cord on the dryer right now or even by a adapter for it call a cert electriction to do the good for you
change the outlet in the wall to match your new dryer
new dryers come with 4 prongs
2 hots
1 neutral
1 ground
