How can i re-finish an old dresser?

Question:with "herloom white" latex paint and sandpaper.. the dresser has a mirror attached

Answers:
In order to faux shabby chic finish your furniture, you will need furniture stripper, rags, a brush, stain, sand paper, white paint in a warm color, and protective coverings for your floor.

First, strip the paint or finish off of your piece of furniture. After the piece is stripped and dry, sand it. You will be mixing a combination of stain and paint, generally three parts stain to one part paint, and then applying that combination to your piece of furniture with rags or a brush. You may have to apply several coats to achieve the affect that you want. As a final touch, you might want to use sand paper on your furniture to make your it look more used.

first remove all the hardware, tape off the mirror, sand all the wood surfaces to make sure its smooth, then paint the wood surfaces with the white, you might want to use foam mini rollers that they sell for use on cabinet doors and such. if a second coat is needed you might want to sand very lightly between coats.
Well... you can do it by hand or you can use a power tool... be careful as different attchments are for different purposes.

Remove the mirror first, if you can't dismantle it, go buy the painters tape and tape cover the mirroe part with newspaper and or the tape...I prefer the tape. Sandpaper off the old paint, then nake sure ther e are no wood dusts on the wood, then spray paint the first coat (if you opt for staining, then you may have to wait until the coat dries and then sandpaper it then apply another coat... and repeat as desired depending on what you decide)... three to four coats should make a smooth finish.
