How do you straighten a wire from a mouse?
Question:How do you straighten a wire from a computer mouse? It's brand new and I just took off the thing that holds the wire together so it's all...not straight. By the way, what are those things called? The one with a wire and paper around it...Like the things that holds the bread package thing together.
Answers:
Hold it by the plug and let it dangle for a minute. Then just leave it out lying flat for a day. It won't be perfect in one day, but it will get better soon. Many people call the wrapper wire a "twist tie". Also...you can bend each of the kinks the opposite direction and straighten them one at time if you like.
To straighten the wire you really need to straighten the rubber insulation around it. The best method that will have the greatest effect is to lay it out on the floor so the wire is stretched out - no turns one straight length.
Place books on it so that the side of the wire is exposed and not covered by the books - on the top to apply pressure.
Now take a hair dryer and go over the insulation until it is reasonably warm - maybe do this to both sides of the wire - rearrange the books if needed.
This will probably take about an hour - and it may not be perfect upon completion but it will be an aweful lot straighter than it was when you began.
