How can i make sandstone tiles/blocks using sand?
Question:
Answers:
1. First you have to make a mould in the shape and size you won't the tiles/blocks to be.
2. Next by the sand in the colour/tone you want. Most sandstone I have seen is a golden colour.
3. Now buy a bag of off white cement.
4. Buy yellow oxide and brown oxide.
5. Bag of Lime
6. Buy concrete bonding agent. If you are in Australia and good one to buy is BondCrete made by Bondall

Mix 1 part cement, 1 part lime and 4 parts sand.
Have a bucket of water with the BondCrete mix in there.
You are now going to need to experiment with the oxides. Add a small amount off yellow to get the tone you wont then swirl in some brown to give it some deeper shades. Like the sandstone you see in the site below.

Don't forget to remember the quantity's of oxide you mix in.
I am not sure what your use is going to be, but you would have to mix an adhesive with the sand and then would have to have a mold that you could exert a great deal of force into to pack the sand tightly enough that it would have any strength at all. You would definately need a machine that would do this.
Real sandstone is a sedimentary rock that was formed over millions of years by the pressure of the earth. It is not just a form of concrete that you can make from sand.
