I want to put in a "stepped" walkway leading to my deck instead of the inclined path I now have.?

Question:I want to use the 12" concrete squares using 4 to a step. Should I start at the top or the bottom and how many inches up per step? I was think 2 or 3. Can anyway help me?

Answers:
i would start at the bottom and work up. its hard to say with out looking at but if were me i would build box frames that will fit all four across and dig out a flat spot on the dirt and put the fram down make sure it was level and the get some sand and fill in the frames and level of the sand then put the squares in the frame so there just a little bit above the frame to allow for them to settle then go to the next step and so on> i would use 4x4s for the frames and this way you could rest the next step on top of the bottom all the way up the slope and if you want a higher step up just cut 4x4s the length of the step and put attach it to the back and rest it on top of that and it will give you an 8in step
