What does professional wood-floor installation entail?

Question:I am debating refinsihing my own wood floors versus having a professional come in and put new ones on top (at $4/sq. ft. installed). I am wondering if we would have to move our own furniture for professionals and other things I could expect or not expect from having the pros do it vs. having me learn how to refinish existing floors.

Answers:
hey there ,i do this all the time. if you live in the house, we expect, at least one room,to be cleaned out altogether. or we charge a hourly rate.to do it. only because we don't wish to break things etc. do your own floors isn't that bad, but the price will get you , the hire of the sander, the sanding paper.and the wait, most pro have two machines going at once, or at least one machine ,and one person finishing, staining or top coating .

I'm in the process on having wood flooring (natural bamboo)installed right now. I opted to move the furniture myself because it was a cost savings. If they move it, you'll be charged. Every little bit helps since my pro install cost more than the flooring.
This cost "$4.00" sq. foot installed, has to be without materials ? right? if with materials, go for it.

Moving furniture around and, two of us have taken half a day rearranging the furniture for people at our cost, it isn't worth it.
I've told them, you move or fifty bucks for all heavy stuff every time I have to move something. Some people are very impersonal about this. I've been in places where you can't walk, for the heavy furniture and, they want you to move it around while you paint. No way.

It's not that hard to learn real fast how to refinish. Go to Home Depot and ask them. They're very good at simple instructions, they may even have a class about it coming up.

There are only a few tools involved but, lots of elbow grease. It's your time, try it.
