I wanted to know if any one knows wat materials you need to build a hanging bed(from the ceiling).?

this will already have supporting beams and it will be supporting a twin mattress and box spring and up to 150 lbs...
i already have a hammock but i have an obsession with haning things... this will be for a teenager

try http://www.diynetwork.com OR http://www.hgtv.com .. they have several episodes of hanging items & i think they did one on beds... if so they should b able to give u directions etc...


i would use , 4x4 or 6x6 posts. 4 of them .then build a frame on the bottom. this will take a sheet of ply.3/4 thick.
you going to need ,.some heavy duty nut and bolts.
and a metal plate , iwould use a 6x6 metal plate, with the bolts allready welded,in place ,your local welder could do this for you, for about $40
you goiing to need some 2x4 for the side parts also
and soem screws, to fix it together ,i would use deck screws.
