How do i add extra breakers to my panel if it is full i want to add a spa?
Question:i now have a 100 amp service can i have it upgraded to a 150 or 200 amp service and what does that involve

There is a number of factors you will need to consider. The first is the size of the service conductors coming to your house. If the conductors are too small, they will need to be replaced. Second, your meter and /or meter base may need to be replaced. These questions must be answered by your electrician and utility provider. In addition, any circuits attached to your new panel will now be required to meet current code standards.
If you decide on installing a pony circuit, there is less to consider. First, you must be able to free up space in your main panel in order to power your second panel. Second, your panel must be able to handle the addition load as determined in your state / provincial codes. As before an electrician can help with this, or you can check the standards with your local code.
Some states / provinces publish simplified code books with worksheets to help make all necessary calculations.
You can put in a new panel to allow for future upgrades or you can install a sub-panel for all you 220V needs and free up some slots on your present breaker box.
It can be done by putting in a new panel or a second panel, a "piggyback". I would have an electrician do it because god forbid something happens he would be liable, plus it would be done right.
Have fun with your spa.
upgrade to a 200 amp main panel. keep the 100 amp the same ( grounds and neutrals need to be seperated). Run the hot tub from the main. Whol-la. If its done by professional
Just buy 2 piggy back 120 volt breakers and take four single 120 volt beakers out and replace them with the two piggyback and now you have a double space left for a 220 volt breaker.
As far as I know anything concerned with your panel has to be in compliance with the power suppliers stipulations.
My suggestion is for you to consult them and see what you need.
Remember many insurance company's will negate your policy if they find out you have been messing with the wires illegally
