I have a weird feeling that I'm being watched in my basement suite! Can I have the place inspected?

Question:It's a brand new house and I'm renting the basement suite. But I have this strange feeling that I'm being watched! Is there someone I can hire to checkout these things? Or any ideas??

Answers:
that is scary...maybe you can buy some detection stuff on the Internet.

Look for a camera or 2-way mirror.
Yes, and if you don't find anything, then its the devil watching you.
call a pi
That's just creepy. I don't know of anyone you could call and get it inspected, but you and a friend (get someone to do this with you, not alone!) should check things out. Look for holes, lights, wires, possible cameras. Anything suspicious report to police.
i would hire a private investigator, that's probably what's going on..
that feeling also goes along with being in a haunted location
oh my gosh!! that's creepy...I always feel like I'm being watched in my apartment..I think it's because stuff was stolen off my balcony the other night..and I'm just freaked out.

you're likely just paranoid because you're new there.

I have no idea about hiring someone though...I'm sorry.
ok, it depends on the state that you live in, but you should call the police, and don't feel stupid about it, they might have the answers you seek, good luck!
Ask a local police officer to check it out for you.

You can also google 'spy camera' and see what is out there so you know what you are looking for.

Look in your air vents, smoke detectors, alarm clock.

If it is a new house look for anything that should not be there in a new house, small hole in the wall. Look at your ceiling in your bathroom for small holes.

Scary... I hope it is just a feeling and nothing comes of it.
You could have a Private Investigator type come in and check it out for you...if it seems to be the case tell the owner (or confront the owner if they are the culprit) and get out of there...b/c if someone is that creepy then watching you may be a first step type of thing. Normal people don't do that. Surely that is a good excuse to break a lease.
The cops won't do much for you unfortunately until you can prove that you are indeed being watched.
What kind of a vibe did you get from the homeowners, or the people up stairs?
Are there any kids living there that strike you as "curious"?
Look around for the obvious, holes, blank wall plates, light fixtures that do'nt work, etc.
Chances are, if you are being watched, they're also going into your place when you're gone.
I do'nt say that to freak you out, but to give you an idea.
Arrange all of your stuff so that you know exactly how it looked when you left. I would say take pictures, but if they're watching you, well...
See if anything has been disturbed when you get home.
This wo'nt give you anything that you can bring to the cops, but it will confirm your suspicions.
Or you could just move out!!
