What underlay can I use before I lay laminate flooring to stop sound, on timber floor?

Underlay comes in several different thicknesses. My advice would be to go for the thickest underlay possible (5mm).

when i layed my laminate we left our carpet down and that worked other than that any that the shop sell work even the cheapest do so don't need to buy expensive one like they try to sell you lol
USE NEWSPAPERS UNDER THE BOARDS ....SIX PAPERS SHOULD BE ENOUGH. I HAVE DONE IT AND THERE IS NO SQEEK AT ALL. HAL
there are many types of underlay thatcan be used for this
depending how much you want to spend.if its an upstairs room there is an extremely good product out of this which stops noise coming downstairs but it is expensive ,it is foiled backed but expensive
