Are cummins power tools good?
Question:i went to a tool sale to today in my nabohoood cummins tools was having a liqudation sale and i bought a ten inch sliding compound miter saw for 170 does any one know if there good tools and did i get riped off?
Answers:
Can't really say they are bad tools. It might do everything you need it to do.
You get what you pay for and there's a reason why a high-end 10' slider will run you about $450.
The main points are:
accuracy (it says 17 degrees, but is it)
design (does the action of using it feel natural; can you safely see where you are cutting)
durability (how much use can it take before the motor, bearings, switches begin failing)
I would say you'll be better off saving up to get a good tool than buying the one you have enough for right now.
You might have been able to buy a similar saw at Home Depot or Lowes for about the same price and had a longer warranty. They occasionally have special purchases or displays that they mark down.
You have to watch this type of sale as many of the tools are rebuilt and only have a 30-90 day warranty instead of the 1 year warranty found at major retailers. You also have no place to return the saw to if you encounter a problem.
Cummins Tools are a off brand of tools and some are poorly constructed. If you are happy, you made a good deal, but remember you get what you paid for.
Hi, I have never heard of them. That doesn't mean they are bad tools though. Sounds like you got a good price to me. Enjoy it! Bye
