I'm replacing a radiator in a hallway.what size radiator shall i replace it with?
Question:it is a 15 ft hall, can i put a small radiator in ?will it make it look longer?will it look wrong?help
Answers:
yes..it will look wrong. try to go with the same size..but a nicer looking one - radiators are trendy these days & you can get some nice ones. it saves you mucking around changing pipework as well.
if you put a small one into such a big hallway...in the winter - it might not be powerful enough to keep it warm.
It it looks right witht the old radiator, keep the size the same, that way when u plumb the radiator in, there no hassle with adjusting the pipework to fit.
use the same size
One that is big enough... When the house was first rigged out with central heating the best size of radiators were used, fitting a bigger one will upset the balance throughout the establishment so fit one the same size as the old one, Try one of the newer types with double walls to give you more heat, if you are looking for less heat, turn the radiator off! The important thing is to go for a replacement that will not involve you in altering the pipework up to and away from the rad. This is a different box of tricks and can send you grey haired overnight.......
stick with same size,it will make job easier as you wont have to mess about with pipe work
Replace it with a radiator the same length and width. You will need a radiator key to remove the old plugs and valves from the old rad. Also keep the rad brackets in the same position. When you refit the valves and plugs to the new rad, wrap around the fitting twice with PTFE tape, and coat the fitting with Boss white jointing paste to ensure a watertight fit. You can obtain all of these items at a good plumbers merchant.
