My shower only has scalding hot water, how do i correct the water temperature for my shower?

Question:I have two showers. one works properly and the other only produces hot water. even if i have the dial on cold it is extremely hot.

Answers:
Either the cold water valve is plugged up or the cold water line is blocked. Turn off the hot side and check flow throught coldside only. If low, have a plummer or yourself replace cold water line and or valve to shower.

the problem were in the faucet, either it is clogged or broken.removed the faucet and buy a new one.
Typically, most showers (with or without tub) do not have shut-off valves like sinks do. But there are always "creative" surprises in some houses. Take a look around your bathroom to see if you have any "mystery" valves.

Otherwise, you will have to replace the shower valve.

Good luck.
you could try taking a look at the hot water heater. maybe that is turned up too high.
Is this a one handle or two/three handle unit? I'm guessing one by your description. Any guesses on the brand? How old? All these can help find the right answer. Making sure the cold water is flowing to the valve is a great start.
Replacing a valve is typically harder than repairing. Guessing a single handle and older, it may be as simple as debris in the valve. Find the shutoffs for the hot and cold of the shower. If you can't find them, shut off the water main (usually near the meter). The first person to complain just "volunteered" to help you.
Remove the handle and all the internal parts. Drop the internal parts into a bowl of white vinegar. Probably can keep the trim plate on, but it depends on the maker and model. When the valve is bare, close the shower curtain/door. Turn both the supplies back on or have your "volunteer" turn the on the main shut off. Let it run for thirty seconds or so. I'd turn the cold on first if I can find the shutoff for it, just to be sure I have some flowing to the valve. But flush both lines. Turn the water back off. Take your parts out of the bowl after an hour or two, scrub with an old toothbrush if they need them. Rinse and reinstall. Should be good to go. Turnt he supplies back on. If it isn't better, you'll need to replace parts.
If you have a stubborn screw or bonnet nut, don't force it. Stick a rag on/around the stubborn part and pour steaming hot white vinegar on it. When the rag is cool, take it off and try to loosen the part again. Repeat another time or two if necessary.
If you can identify the brand (Delta, Peerless, Price Pfister, ...) look up their website and give them a call. They help folks with this stuff all the time. And if the shower isn't real old, you may be under warranty - parts for free.
