I like to separate my metal shed, like to know how to separatet the metal piece?
Question:I have a quiet old metal shed, and like to replace it with a new model (wood + vinyl), but the problem is that, this metal shed is not only connect by metal nail, but some place, it use some kind of metal adhesive, which bond very strong.
My question is that what kind of stuff I should buy to dissolve the metal adhesive, and if not such thing, what I can do, may be just cut it?
Thanks.
Answers:
Not much chance of finding a product to dissolve a metal adhesive. It is probably an epoxy such as JB Weld or is actually welded. I would use a reciprocating saw with metal blades to cut it apart. You can either purchase or rent a saw.
Your "adhesive" is called "strip dope", or "caulk tape". It is a poly-butyl compound. Any petroleum distillate will dissolve it, however I think soaking your shed in gasoline would be foolish. If you pull hard, steady, and slowly, it may come apart for you. If not you'll have to buy new sheet metal. We sell "seconds" for about a buck a liner foot.
