Changing an outlet to suit an A/C?

I assume you are referring to the voltage rating rather than the wattage. That being the case, all household outlets in the US are either 110 volt or 220 volt. Most houses only have 220 volt for things like a dryer or air conditioner and maybe one in the garage for a welder or something. That being said, If you have a 250 volt, it's more than likely a 220 volt. You could have it checked if you don't think that's correct. But chances are you will be safe to change it to a 230 and plug it in.
Watts or volts? It makes a difference. Also the current capacity of the line in amps.
First off, if your in the USA you are only dealing with 220 house hold current...
If your outside the USA..forget about this answer.
You can change any outlet if its 220 to suit an A/C plug. Just because it "says" its 250, like I said, its still 220 unless you have 'special power" or a transformer on top of a power pole that is special just for you...forget about it...its still 220volts.
Now, if your a "business", you "may" have 250, because they make special allocations to them and give them any type of power they may need. (Its amazing what type of power a business may utilize, and I wont get into it here).
I wish you well...

I have a hunch that you are talking about volts. And, there are various outlet types for the same voltage, which for most air conditioners of any size is 220. Get an outlet at a home supply store that matches the plug on the end of your air conditioner. Turn off the power to the current outlet and change to the new one and off you go.
