I am putting a bathtub in my basement and I need help with the drain!?

Question:I am putting a bathtub in my basement and it has old plumbing that has been mounted about 2ft from the floor on the wall this includes the drain pipe. How can I hook up the bathtub drain so that the tub will drain without doing any damage to the current ceramic flooring? Do I need some kind of pump? If so what kind?

Answers:
you don't have to rip up the floor. you can put in a small sewage pump. look at this site www.saniflo.com.

Without doing a costly rip up and moving the pipes i can only suggest building a platform with a couple of broad steps for the tub.
It doesn't sound like the drain pipe in your wall was intended for a bathtub. The only issue you could come accross is that over time the buildup in the pipe could cause a backup, or even worse, a reverse flow. If your basement is below the city waterline, I would strongly discourage this. Your best bet would to get professional advice from a certified plumber.
YES YOU'LL PROBABLY NEED TO BUILD A LIFT STATION. THIS USUALLY CONSISTS OF A 10- 20 GALLON PLASTIC CONTAINER WITH A LID. BASICALLY IT HAS AN INLET FOR THE DRAIN, AS HIGH AS POSSIBLE WHILE MAINTAINING THE CORRECT PITCH OF THE SHOWER DRAIN. INSIDE THE TUB SITS A STANDARD SUMP PUMP WITH A BACKFLOW VALVE ON THE OUTLET THAT GOES TO YOUR MAIN DRAIN
