How to refinish a wood table that got wet?

Question:

Answers:
If the table got soaking wet and the wood is rotted all throughout, there's really nothing you can do. If there's just a light spot on top, maybe from a sweaty glass sitting on the wood, you can easily sand down the table and refinish. Use a block sander and always sand with the grain of the wood. Make sure the table is 100% free from sanding dust before applying new finish. Check with your local paint supply store for the best color and sheen you are looking for in a finish.

If it did not warp bad when it dried, just sand it down and put a new coat of sealer or varnish. You can always clamp the layers together.
Before you try anything, make sure it is all dry!!
Good luck...
As it drys out, probably already has, check for warp and cracks in the wood. If you can, glue and clamp cracks. In refinishing old wood tables I often turn them up side down and pour on tong oil and let it soak in and swell the wood back to what it was, then liberally oil the rest of it for the same reason. It saturates the thirsty wood and gives a durable finish that you can buff out for a shine. Also use Danish oil. Read directions on products for best results.
