Go to you local lumber company and they will show you the best anchor for what you need and also a carbide drill bit if you need it and explain to you how to do it!
Assuming you can borrow a drill from someone
no nails
Try using the Hercules Hook, it can hold up to 150 lbs. and if you use 2, 300 lbs. Here's the link: http://www.herculeshook.com/
a big nail right in the middle of it
If the stone is very flat, you can use a product called Liquid Nails, which you dispense with a caulk gun all over the back of the mirror, then lift to position and hold it there for awhile.
The better way will be more work. You need to get a pressure-treated 2x4 that is the length of your mirror. Measure where you want the bottom of the mirror to go and draw a line. Then, get some masonry screws (home improvement stores call them Tapcons) and screw the board to the stone wall at the line you drew. Using these screws requires pre-drilling holes into the stone and the holes through your 2x4. This will give you a ledge to set your mirror. Then you can do a variety of things to keep the mirror against the wall, the best of which is the Liquid Nails I referred to in paragraph 1.
Good luck and email if you have any other questions.
A CAULKING GUN AND TWO TUBES OF CONTRACTOR SIZE LIQUID NAILS. YOU'LL NEED LUMBER TO HOLD IT IN PLACE UNTIL THE ADHESIVE SETS.
alright brother..has the mirror got holes in each corner...then raw plug's and screws ... if its like a picture frame behind the mirror then get a couple of picture hooks a few inches apart that should do it .don,t break it our team cant do with any more bad luck...
Oh my, Disregard all above answers... Get a mason bit, a good drill, a expansion anchor and go to work. Your local hardware store will help you. Do not epoxy or glue and risk your mirror falling off and hurting someone.
More description please...
What kind of Stone? Is it uneven?
What's on the back of the mirror..wood?
It it antique, therefore with decent wood in which to screw the eyelets into? Or modern, therefore only a cardboard back and softwood frame?
You will probably need Picture/mirror hanging wire, which is made of a brass alloy. Strong stuff, not expensive.
Basically you will probably need 2 eyes in the back of the mirror to which you tie the wire to (Use pliers!), and two screws in the wall. Picture hooks will not hold. You will need to drill / rawlplug and screw the wall. With two screws, not only are you spreading the weight to two fasteners, but it makes the whole thing more stable and will remain level once set.
I agree with the guy who said use expansion anchors...also known as "mollies".
Just drill 2 holes in the wall about as far apart as 2/3 of the mirror width. You might need to drill at a slight downward angle.
Use 2 real heavy screws into the expansion lugs, then hang the mirror via the wire going across the back- easy to level by pulling left or right.
Depending on the type of stone you could consider chemical anchors. These are a two part epoxy contained in a glass tube. Drill and insert them into the hole and the fixing will smash the glass casing and release the epoxy to set in the hole. Sets quite quickly and is exceptionally strong.
Use Mirror Plates, assuming it has a wooden frame, buy some big enough for the job and use brass screws. Mirror plates are usually brass and you wouldn't want to spoil the job for want of all brass fixings. Use a steel screw first to 'Tap' the wall plug, making the insertion of a brass screw much easier and saving the screwdriver from slipping and raising a tiny sliver of brass just waiting to spear into your finger.
In the past when I had to fix a mirror in all the rooms on a holiday camp as cheaply as possible and where they would be smashed anyway if ever they had to come off. I used blobs of silicone sealant. That was more than ten years ago and they are still all hanging on. I wouldn't try "No Nails" because I have no knowledge of the product, I retired before it was thought up. It could possibly shrink a little on drying and this would cause the mirror to break.
silocon that sets you can get in a tube that you fit to a dipensing gun.---------seal the wall first with uni bond and water mix and let dry
try buying lead anchors in home depot, you would have to drill two holes and bang them in with a hammer, they will hold hundreds of pounds.
All of these answers require holes inthe stone wall or an adhesive to it. If you have ceiling molding (crown molding) you can set your anchors there then suspend the mirror using wire.
Cement screws
I don't know.
get a heavy duty drill drill a couple of holes place screws in holes and place mirror on screws
