Can I put tiler down on an unlevel floor?
Question:I live in a house that's practically falling down, but I don't own it and don't care to fix it the right way. I would like to put some ceramic tile down, but the floor is not even level. Is there a cheap way to acomplish this?

OK...you can but the grout and the mortar WILL break eventually. The tile is usually strong enough to not break, just pick up a tile with a P.E.I. rating of 4 or 5. What you can do is pick up a product called Jiff-Set it's a self leveling compoud, but it will only work for upto about an 1/8 of an inch. If you have any questions about this stuff just IM me.
If you don't care if the tile is level, just lay it on the unlevel floor. If you want the tile to be level, there is no cheap way to do it.
Cement floor leveler sand it smooth while its still damp cause its hard to do after its dry.
DO NOT put ceramic tile on a floor that is not level...If you do... it will crack the tile as you walk on it or put furniture atop of it..
Don't use large tiles, 12 x 12 or even 8 x 8. Get those squares of small tiles attached to a backing sheet , that way when you lay them down they will have less of a chance of cracking like a large tile would.
yes. if you have a concrete slab on the floor you can buy self leveling cement that you mix into almost water. when you pour it it levels itself by filling in the low spots. when this dries you can tile on top of that.
you can level it with a cement based floor patch.but i'm guessing the floor is wood and ceramic tile will not last long on a wood floor..if your staying a year or so you will probably be ok,but longer than that you will need to put a cement board down then install your ceramic..my 2 cents.....
no.
Don't wast your money.
tile=ridged material
gaps=movement
Ridged material + movement= a big pile of broken money.
no stuiped girl and do us a favor and never try to lay tile
noooooooooooooooooo. cement floor levelor a bag is like 30 bucks. another option is the peel and stick tiles. top of the line run about $1.30 a ft2. can be placed over pretty much anything. real tile look on the expensive ones, really thick maybe 1/8 inch
I wouldn't even put the money into tile if you don't own. If the floor is out of level, the tile will just end up cracking anyway. If the flooring needs freshening up, I would just lay sheet vinyl.
