Toilet Problem… Please help?

Question:When I flush my toilet it fulls quickly to the top of the bowl and then again the water quickly disappears. Why is the water level rising so high? I would think its not a blockage as the water disappears so quickly, suggestions?

Answers:
ya.. its always like that.. keep pressing the flush for more water...

it is a blockage.if you don,t have a plunger a mop will do the same job
It probably is a blockage. I think you should purchase a toilet snake a plunger may not help.
A toilet snake is one designed for toilets.
Sounds like a blockage. If you get air bubbles just before the water goes "quickly" down, it is probably a clogged vent. I would buy/rent a closet auger first to clear the toilet trap.
