How do I drill a whole into a quartz countertop so that I can install a reverse osmosis water system?

Question:It would cost $120 to have the installer come back to do, so I would rather do it myself. The hole will need to be 1 1/4" in diameter.

Answers:
See if you can rent a diamond tip core drill. Really, $120 is not bad for that, believe it or not.

i would get a special drill bit for the job, just go to a local building supply place like Lowes or Home Depot and ask them for the right drill bit to use.
any masonry drill bit should do the job
Just a heads up - Make sure that the faucet that comes with the RO has a long enough shank to attach it to the top before you drill it. Some of those tops are 1 ½ " thick.
You can talk to another granite company and get a quote. They should do it for around $75 - $100 that's what they charge in my town. Then if something goes wrong and the top cracks it's on their dime not yours.
If you want to do it yourself I would use a diamond hole saw try:

They sell diamond hole saws
go to a tile store in the morning..look for one that sells slabs of pre-fabricated slab tops. try and find a slab fabricator in the parking lot and see if he wants to make a quick fifty bucks. We have doon them for a low as $20...sorry.
