Small deck that covers basement door?
Question:Suggestion for small deck 6x20 by 4ft. that covers basement door. There is a patio door from kitchen to deck area. But how do you allow access to basement without having a 4ft opening on the ground level? I'm stumped! We live in a small urban community, small house is 80 yrs old.

More Information needed and a scatch of photos would help so I could give you ideas.
All I have seen just build the deck and duck under it when going to the basement. The only other option is to move the kitchen door location, and leave the basement door open. You could excavate into the yard and pour concrete for the basement entrance, but that is more extreme than moving the kitchen door.

Is it possible that your deck could have stairs going down ...to that basement door ? Otherwise I really can envision no solution.
I've had trap doors in the ceiling to get to the attic. Why not a trap door in the floor to get to the basement? Just a thought!
