How do you convert propane to natural gas for a gas grill?
Question:
Answers:
On most models, you only have to remove the burner orifices, because propane is at a higher pressure, and a smaller orifice size. You may also have to change, or remove the pressure regulator.
You can't--they're either made for NG or propane. Switching will require a lot of retrofitted parts that the manufacturer won't provide.
on water heaters and furnaces it's done by changing the orifice. if your grill has one it's as easy as taking one out and putting the right one in. my thinking would be it's based on model, make and the quality of your grill. try contacting the manufacturer or looking it up on the web. you may have to buy a new grill. lots of luck.
the gases burn different so you have to change the orface at the inlet hose where it enter the manifold. you will need a different hose with a different end on it also. Where ever you can find the hose they will sell the converter orface. I just bought a new grill and had to order a natural gas model from WEBER.
It can be done. There is a kit you can buy to convert it or have a plumber do it all. They can convert as well as run the line to the grill.
It depends on the grill.. most low end grills can NOT be converted. Weber and some other high end brands sell propane OR natural gas grills and Weber offers conversion kits to dealers for some of it's models.
The regulator, orifices and hoses are NOT the same and cannot be interchanged, the two gases operate at different pressures and burn rates.
