How can I remove moisture stains from my wood floors?

Question:I recently removed some of the carpet in my house and I guess the previous owners had a dog or something because I have moisture stains-----old ones. The floors are not coated in polyurethane like the rest of the hardwood in my house so how can I remove the stainage? Help

Answers:
Hopefully the stains are not deep. You can try sanding the floor to see if the stain gets any lighter.

Secondly when you stain and urethane the floor this should help hide any imperfections in the floor.

Yeah, do what he said. Rent one of the orbital sanders at HD or lowes and be sure to go from rough to medium to fine grit on the sandpaper. If you can't get the imperfections out, don't worry about it, just finish over them and call them character flaws. Even the worst stains don't look that bad after you get furniture back in there.
