My light fixture worked on the first day, and not on the second day?
Question:I installed a light fixture outside of the parking lot, and when i checked it that very night, it was working. The next day, i checked it and it wasnt working! I know it is not the wires fault because it worked on the first day, but the light bulb looks fine. i dont know what is wrong. Anyone have any ideas?
Answers:
Could have damaged the switch - if its a switch operated light.
If its a sensor light there could be something on it for setting a time interval for the on and the off periods
You need to check it during the day also, so you know it is not coming on off-schedule.
Moisture could have gotten into the fixture preventing the bulb from lighting.
This is what I would suspect first because it worked the first day but it was taken out of the package and it was relatively dry. After sitting in the elements for 24 hrs it no longer came on.
I would really suspect this, second would be time interval setting, but check the breaker before climbing up there - think of the obvious first
Check:
Breaker
Switch ( if applicable)
Light & fixture ( moisture & tightness)
Cover (tightness & gasket [prevent moisture])
Time Interval Switch ( if applicable)
Wiring
Voltage Rating also.
Oh, and don't forget to look for signs that it had been tampered with.
hi
check the sensor if it's a dawn to dust on it
It could very well be the wiring. If it is exterior, moisture could have gotten in to a connection, vibration from passing heavy vehicles could have shaken a connection loose, etc. It could also be improper wiring. How long did it work the first day? Did you switch it on and off right away? If so, the test may not have been long enough to see is a short would blow the breaker. And then it could just be causing an overload on the breaker - the light that broke the breakers back so to speak. If you have too many electrical items running on a 15amp breaker at once, it'll flip everytime.
you have a short in ur wiring
