Ants in upstairs bathroom. Where are they coming from?
Question:I'm having a problem with small ants in my upstairs bathroom. Here is the situation. Just today, I started spotting them. Overall, I've picked up and flushed about 15 so far. The thing is, I have never seen a -single- ant downstairs. Nor have I seen any in my room (which connects to my isolated bathroom). There is one window in the bathroom, it is shut tight and there are no signs of entry from the ants. There are ants outside that look similar to these, but I am careful not to track them inside, much less to my 2nd floor. My bathroom has a ceiling fan but I didn't see any ants near that area. The only place I've spotted them in fact are on my sink area (I have a double sink) and they are getting into my empty medicine cabinet.
My only clue is I saw an ant coming up through my sink. I didn't think ants could go up the pipes like that. I only observed one though coming from the sink. Any ideas? Thanks.

Odds are that the ants are coming in on one of the pipes under the sink...Find where every pipe comes into the room and caulk any openings...
But if you want the whole ant colony dead just buy some Terro ant killer and put drops of it on little paper cards alongside the ant trail...At first you will see more ants...then they will all disappear...
It kills the whole colony...
If its dry where you are, they may be looking for water. try an ant bait if you are patient (may take a few days), if not then use any household insecticide.
You will need an exterminator to find the source,on the outside, if you have a crawl space under the house that is the most likely spot, if not, there will be a source around the house somewhere. They move up plumbing, through the walls, can even come in at outlets. etc. Insist on the most powerful ant killer treatment. We had it done recently cost of 100.00--but it solved the problem. They eat or get the pesticide on them and carry it back to the source which contaminates the herd. Good luck. They are a mess.
ants in your pants ay?just kidding!but my friend has them in her room and we found out they came from the walls...so check the walls, then exterminate them.and if they're for sure coming from the sink then maybe tooth paste is attracting them.it's a possibility.i left an empty cherry jar open and they had it covered in 2 days.
You're exactly right! Ants are always foraging for food and water, and they found a perfect watering hole in your sink! Outside somewhere there is probably a crack to where they got into the walls of your house, or even down in their ant hole, where they came across your pipe and followed it to the opening of your sink or somewhere on the counter-top of your sink.
I find that Raid works the best in killing ants quickly and efficiently...and also you could place a few cucumber slices around the counter-top so they won't come back. (For some reason, they don't like them smell of them?) If you still can't get rid of them, you'll probably have to call a pest-master to get rid of them altogether. Good luck.
They can squeeze through the tiniest cracks. The best thing to get rid of ants is Terro ant killer, it's in a bright orange box, and most stores carry it these days. The ants eat the poison, and live just long enough to get back to the nest and affect the rest of the colony. We used to be plagued with carpenter ants, but since I used Terro, I've only seen 1 or 2 this year.
im sure that those small black ants have a sneaky holes at ur bathroom
i don't wanna say anything wrong about how will u get rid of them
I have this problem once a year when the weather turns warm and there is lots of rain. I live in Texas. I have no real explanation on why but try putting ant treatment granuals in the electrical sockets in the room where ants are seen. This eliminates them at least untill the next year ...Good Luck
Do you use your sink very often? If you really think that they are coming up through the sink I would put some ant killer down the sink. If that doesn't work call a local company that will spray for you. If you don't want to pay for the spray call the local bug company and ask them if ants can climb up pipes. That sounds really strange...Hope that this helps.
