Kitchen bugs?

Question:about 4 days ago I saw these tiny bugs about 4 of them on my counter top.they wern't ants, they had like a hard smooth shell
but the size of a nat. I killed them and went about my day, later I returned to the kitchen and there were about 4-5 more.I open the cupbourd, looked around, opened a bag of flour, nothing. thru out the day there were more.so I started taking everything out of the cupbourd. when I got to a open box of pancake mix, they were everywhere inside the box. I then removed EVERYTHING that was dry good, opened ones went right in the trash, at this point my cupboards are BARE ! what little I kept,I put in plastic containers. I sprayed amonia in the cupbourds, and wiped them all down . UNBELIEVEBLY went to kitchen twice today, and there were 2-3 more. dont no what they are,but cant seem to KILL them.I bought ant traps today and put them thru out the kitchen but since they are NOT ants, doubt they will work.can anyone tell me how to get ride of these things,or what they are.

Answers:
I've always called those critters meal bugs on account they can be found finely ground stuff like flour, cake and pancake mix. Now that you found the source of the infestation you pretty much dealt with the problem. Ant traps are useless on account they have the wrong bait.

I would try and seal up all the cracks and other places they can get in if the problem persists. Keeping flour and the like in sealed plastic containers should end the problem. By the way seeing 1 or 2 is no big deal, over time you'll see less and less.

Do you live in a single house? A double house?

Sounds like roaches to me.

If you live in a double house, they could be coming from next door.

Sounds like you need a bug bomb.

The Rat
I would get those sticky things that you lay out on the floor, in the garage, etc that are basically fly paper that the bug sticks to if it crawls on it. Also, check each and every spice, a friend of mine had something similar and the bugs were in one of the spices in the spice cabinet.
Those are flour bugs. Under the right conditions of warmth and moisture they hatch. The eggs, in all flower, are the same size as the flower grains.
Don't let flower sit for a long time and have tightly sealed, or keep in fridge.
The bugs will disappear when there's no more to eat.
Keep flower out of cabinets and put rest back in.
Go on with your life.
To me it sounds like baby cockroaches, for me have tried several different methods of getting rid of them none have helped much. If you find something that is good to use and non-toxic let me know, and I'll try it. Thanks, Smile.
