Can anyone give me any advice regarding digging leach lines for a septic tank because my husband is digging...
Question:them outside right now at my father-in-law's. I'm pretty sure the perc rate will be between 1-5 minutes for 1 inch of water, but we're going to do the official test in a little bit to check. The soil here is sandy and it's a three bedroom house with 3 people living in it and 4 people who visit almost every weekend. I read on http://www.inspect-ny.com/septic... that we should have about 187 feet of leach line. My husband and father-in-law say they know what they're doing, but I'm a tad worried. My husband had two 43 foot long trenches he dug with a mini-excavator last I checked. They're pretty deep, maybe 12-15 feet deep. Any info you can give would be great. Thanks!

8 to 10ft is deep enough, Be sure to embed your Leach Lines in about 6 to 8 ft of Pea Gravel filling out the Bottom to Leach lines. You should Start from your Liquids Tank and Start your down flow about a 1/4 Bubble on a 2 to 4ft Level until you get to the End. Also you can reduce your PVC PIPE FROM 4" TO 2" PVC. At the opening of your hole T- off & run 5 to 10 Leach Lines & space them 2 to 3" apart fill top of lines With Pea Gravel & Top Soil and Pack well. One noteable; You might want to Line the bottom of your leach Hole Polyurathane, Oil or Sulpher and Lime to prevent mold & Mildew. Hope I Helped you as simple as Possible.

Go make some popcorn and wait they aren't going to listen to you-about 5 yrs from now after it starts backing up, they will take your advice, pretend it was there's all along and fix it right. In the meantime you will not be driving yourself crazy.

i hope before they started they the soil tested and inspected.cause some state require that you have the septic system in stall by a pro. i would stop them and ask the county if you need permits and also have the soil tested. becuse if you dont and some calls on you you could be heavy fined.
