How do I drill a hole through moss rock?

Question:I want to make a fountain with a large rock I have. I believe it is called moss rock. Would a hammer drill with a masonry bit work for this or is there something better?

Answers:
yes it also depends on how soft the rock is the hammering may crack the rock you can still use the drill but in a non hammer mode it will drill it but it will be very slow going and if your drill has a low speed use it

A hammer drill might crack the rock..use a masonry bit with water from a hose on constant for dust and ease the heat buildup..
That's probably going to be your best bet, unless you know someone with a diamond tipped hole boring bit. But keep in mind, those bits need to be constantly water cooled.
