Is there any way to fix a hole in a wool blanket?

Question:I have a wool blanket from Scotland. There is now a 6 inch tear right in the middle.

Answers:
Answer number one gives you valid ideas. If the wool is "woven" a Tailor should have little problem in re-weaving similar patch threads into the tear. Certainly the various techniques have been around for years.

I'll assume you may not recall the term or process that defines fixing a hole in a sock (Darn). Anyway, that's another method, though the aesthetics may not be as pleasing as the original, it may keep the blanket from attaining a higher level of damage.

You can put a patch over the whole, or give it to a tailor - they can mend it so that it will be almost invisible.
There are needles for sewing machines that are designed for wool. Rather than coming to a point it has a micro ball on the end - so not to damage the wool. You could sew this up yourself if you're any good at sewing.

There are liquid stitch that you can buy
