I drove a screw into a door jamb. Now,i try to remove the screw it simply spins in place. How do I remove it?
Question:I drilled a pilot hole first. And it took effor to drive it in initially--so i didn't drill too large of a pilot. I really don't want to have to remove the door and take pliers to it.
Anyone else ever encountered this problem?
Answers:
take a flat head screwdriver and force it just under the lip of the screw head. apply outward pressure on the screw head as you unscrew it.
derr
use a screw driver and dig until you get it up a little more
then unscrew it at an angle away from the way you put it in
once you get it up enough
use the back end of a hammer and pull it out
damage is done might as well dig it out and use putty to fix the hole.
get a flat srewdriver and pry on it so you can get the screw to bite the wood while you tryin back the screw out or use a pair of neddle nose pliers and try to grab the head of it and pull it out
If you rounded the head of the screw off and the screw driver won't work any longer. If you have enough of the head sticking out, get a pair of vice grips and lock them on then twist out slowly. Hope this helps.
Magnet.
of course take a pair of angle pliers and grab it right under the head and pry up as you are unscrewing it
yes drill it out with a metal bit. ,then stick a match stick
back in its place, used brass screws, 1/4 deep only
anything you can get under the head to pry up on will work . pry up while unscrewing
Hi Carrie-Marie, you may have to get someone with opposable thumbs to help okay? Take a magnet and put it up to the head of the screw, if it's lose enough it should come right out!
